Adult Development
Course and Registration Information |
GSGEC offers training to all volunteers to assist them in preparing a safe, positive environment for the development of girls. Courses are designed to broaden each volunteer’s understanding, knowledge, skills and attitudes of the Girl Scout Movement.
The required courses are classes that GSUSA and/or GSGEC require Girl Scout volunteers to complete. Every leader is required to receive New Volunteer Orientation from their Member Services Executive or designated volunteer. Within ninety days, they should complete Basic Volunteer training (available in a home-study format) and the appropriate Age-Level training. Troop leaders must also complete an approved First Aid/CPR course, or secure an adult resource person who has successfully completed such training. If the troop will be going camping, an adult representative from the troop must also complete Troop Camping training.

Cancellations
Out of courtesy to our volunteer trainers and to provide you with the best possible training opportunities, we reserve the right to reschedule any course for which you are registered.
When a course is cancelled or rescheduled due to low enrollment, you will be notified at least two days prior to the course date. If you are unable to attend a course for which you are registered, we ask that you call the Kalamazoo Service Center in advance.
If inclement weather causes a cancellation, the trainer or a staff person will make every attempt to contact all registered participants in advance.
In the event of a cancellation due to weather or low enrollment, you will be issued a course credit. If you call the Kalamazoo Service Center at least one week in advance to cancel, your fee can be transferred to another course.
