We are excited to be able to offer a wonderful program called Living On My Honor. This program is designed to "teach all Girl Scouts within the council's jurisdiction to celebrate similarities and differences among all people and to eventually develop skills to counter bigotry.
This great diversity program has been designed to be presented in troop or group meetings. It has been piloted and has had great results. It is currently being used in the Outreach programs in Battle Creek. LOMH curriculum consists of games, activities and discussion topics that focus on skills and attitudes to promote appreciation of diversity. A set of cards with various challenge options has been developed for each age group represented within the Girl Scouts organization.
LOMH has approximately 40 different activities or discussion questions per age group. Some cards specifically address appreciation of self and others, whereas other cards teach skills to enhance self awareness or personal competency, which in turn may increase the likelihood girls will embrace diverse social relationships and tolerance of others.
We are thrilled to be able to offer this program. There will not be a charge for this training as expenses are being paid for by grants. Each troop will be able to have a set of cards that will be age appropriate for their group after training.
If you are interested in incorporating Living On My Honor in your troop please contact Penny or Eva. You may call either at the Battle Creek Service Center
