Position Title: Service Area Cookie Sale Chair
Position Summary: Work with the Service Area Manager and Service Team to coordinate the service area’s participation in the council cookie sale.
Appointed by: Service Area Manager and Senior Vice President, Product Sales
Position Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Train troop cookie sale chairs on the use of forms.
- Distribute materials for all troops in service unit.
- Keep accurate records of transactions with troops and monies deposited by troops.
- Submit reports on time; follow-up with troops that are delinquent with reports and/or money.
- Provide appropriate location to receive and distribute cookies.
- May coordinate cookie booth sales for the service area.
- Provide information to assist GSGEC in collecting delinquent accounts.
- Attend training as required.
- Attend Service Team and Area meetings as needed.
- Interpret and support, in a positive manner, the Council’s policies, standards, procedures, and decisions.
- Support GSGEC efforts to increase revenue through Family Partnership, Capital Campaigns, Product Sales and special events that may be held from time to time.
Position Competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities required):
- Believes in the aims and purposes of the Girl Scout organization and subscribes to the principles expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
- Meets requirements for membership in Girl Scouts of U.S.A. and be a registered member.
- Understand and accept GSUSA Policies and Standards, Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Policies and Standards.
- Have the ability to delegate responsibly, motivate, and work harmoniously with others without regard to race, creed, nationality, socio-economic factors or disabilities.
- Has basic knowledge of, or is willing to learn, Girl Scout programs and is willing and able to take necessary trainings.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, and the ability to delegate responsibility.
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, resourcefulness, flexibility and a sense of humor are assets.
Time Commitment Required: One year, November through May
Meetings Required:
- Two training meetings for the troop cookie chairs
- Monthly service area meetings before and during the sale
Training Needed:
- Session with the Product Sale Director and/or representative of cookie supplier
