Kristen was a Girl Scout in the Glowing Embers Council for nine years. She attended Camp Merrie Woode many summers while in Girl Scouts. She graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and women’s studies and a social work minor. She also graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a master’s degree in liberal studies in women’s studies with concentrations in guidance and counseling and social justice/diversity issues. She interned with Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers during her undergraduate degree. She then moved to a full-time staff position at Girl Scouts of Macomb County—Otsikita Council before taking a position here at GSGEC. She has been employed with Girl Scouts for more than six years and has received the CAVN “Volunteer Administrator Award for Excellent Service and Leadership in Volunteer Management” in 2005. She is currently on the Board for the American Association of University Women, Battle Creek chapter. In her spare time she enjoys camping, going to museums, reading, playing trivia, traveling and cooking.
